There are only a handful of native plants on our land here at Portland Fair on San Juan Island, but one which steadily persists each year is the fall bloomer, Douglas aster.
My sons and I have collected thousands of the parachute-like seeds this season. Please let me know if you’re interested and I’d be happy to share.
Seeds come with the pappus (fluff) attached. And here are some photos I took of these beauties.
